Mobile telecoms firm starts recruitment drive

RECRUITING has begun to hire 55 customer service staff at a telecoms company’s call centre in Tower Hill, London.  Lebara Mobile says that they will be among 200 new employees it plans to take on in the UK and overseas.

Lebara specialises in low-cost mobile calls and says it has 1m UK customers. It targets international callers predominantly among minority communities where it says there are a possible 10m UK customers.

In the UK, it uses Vodafone’s network and has equipment at London’s Telehouse for least cost routing among 60 carriers.  Retailers of Lebara’s SIM cards include Tesco, Asda and Phones4U.  The call centre, open 9am-9pm year round, is multi lingual and has 70 workstations.

The company has operations in five mainland European countries and has just opened in Australia.

Three Sri Lankan entrepreneurs founded Lebara and its name is a combination of the initial letters of their given names.
